As part of the Women on Boards Executive Programme’s Extended Experience initiative, the conference ‘Fall in Love with Problems, Not Solutions: Navigating the AI Revolution’ takes place on 24 June, featuring Inês Drummond Borges, Executive Director and Chief Transformation Officer at Sonae Sierra. The event starts at 3.00 pm in the António de Magalhães Cardoso auditorium at VdA’s Lisbon office.

This session is intended to serve as a ‘survival kit’ for the massive disruption caused by Artificial Intelligence (AI). As AI spreads throughout the business world, it is important to understand the basic principles of Machine Learning, Neural Networks, Computer Vision, Large Language Models and Agentic AI, in order to harness them for the growth and efficiency of organisations. Specific, practical use cases will be discussed, offering insights into how to drive this transition forward.

The “5 Superpowers” of this new era will also be explored in depth: Imagining, Learning, Disrupting, Connecting and Reconfiguring. These concepts foster a culture of innovation ‘beyond the horizon’, accelerate growth through a ‘learn it all’ mindset, reinforce the power of data to transform business models, enhance networked learning and boost team output by delegating tasks to AI agents.

As part of the Women on Boards Extended Experience, various sessions are organised throughout the year to broaden participants’ knowledge of relevant topics and to provide networking opportunities that harness the power of a network of over 300 female professionals.

The Women on Boards Executive Programme, organised by VdA Academia, aims to prepare female executives from private-sector companies, the public sector and the Public Administration who have the potential to join management and supervisory bodies, or who already sit on such bodies and wish to develop the skills essential to performing their roles.
