Your Privacy Officer

The Your Privacy Officer training program is aimed at preparing organizations to ensure that the new legal obligation in effect from 25 May 2018 is performed, namely the appointment of a “Data Protection Officer” (DPO), and also at providing employees with the skills and knowledge needed to perform these duties.

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) sets forth the instances where organizations acting either as a data controller or as a data processor must appoint a DPO. This obligation applies to

  • public authorities or bodies, whether
  • companies whose main activities consist of large-scale personal data processing operations, which (i) require regular and systematic control of data subjects, or (ii) fall within special categories of data, such as data relating to health, and data related to criminal offenses and convictions.

In all other cases and while it is mandatory, companies processing personal data on a massive basis are advised to have a DPO responsible for these matters, both internally and externally, by the end of 2018. This decision is considered good practice, mitigating risks associated with the obligations arising from this act, and goes a long way to demonstrating compliance.

This program was developed to suit different needs of different types of organizations and their DPOs. Trainees will acquire in-depth technical and practical knowledge and specific know-how that will enable them to perform their duties properly and that ensure strict and permanent compliance with demanding legal obligations in terms of privacy protection, in an increasingly challenging environment in terms of compliance. The tried and tested techniques will prove to be a direct and immediate added value for the trainees' areas of expertise.

After attending the program, the trainees will have acquired:

  • Solid knowledge leading to an integrated understanding of personal data protection matters
  • Deep knowledge of their role as DPOs under the GDPR
  • Ability to anticipate risks, identify and solve specific problems and analyze the impact of personal data protection rules on the different projects of the organization
  • Tools for making decisions about data processing activities, defining and optimizing processes
  • Skills to manage personal data breaches and other security incidents
  • Technical and practical knowledge and specific know-how to provide added value in the exercise of their duties
